BL Collector's Edition

BL Collector's Edition

The BL Collector Edition is a carefully curated collection featuring only the special Harley-Davidson custom motorcycles created by BAD LAND. Transcending the concept of mass production, each bike represents a high-level fusion of design, technology, and philosophy. It is not merely a motorcycle used for transportation. It stands here as the artistic pinnacle of Harley-Davidson custom motorcycles—a single entity in which sculptural beauty, functional beauty, and the spirit of its creators have come together.

2004 VRSCB 300 Wide Tire Full Custom

The Low & Long V-ROD, Carrying On the Legacy of “RED RAIN”

A low, elongated silhouette emerges from the jet-black background. Built on the basis of a 2004 Harley-Davidson VRSCB, this machine conveys its uniqueness at first glance. Its sleek, elongated proportions from front to back, a low ride height that seems to skim the ground, and the overwhelming presence created by the massive rear tire all combine to create an imposing presence. However, the appeal of this bike cannot be explained by its size or sheer power alone. The design elements of each part flow seamlessly together, lending the entire bike a unique sense of tension. This look wasn’t achieved simply by modifying the bike or adding parts. It is the result of carefully discerning the muscular form inherent to the V-ROD platform and refining only the essential lines.

Production Background Similar to That of the Movie “HiGH & LOW THE RED RAIN”

Work on this bike began around the same time we were customizing the V-ROD that appears in the movie *HiGH & LOW THE RED RAIN*. To create a V-ROD that would fit the movie’s aesthetic, we produced a variety of custom parts at the time, focusing on both design and functionality. Among these, the most significant component was the original rear swingarm, machined from billet aluminum based on 3D designs.Featuring a three-dimensional surface structure and sharp edges, this swingarm was conceived and actually built specifically for the V-ROD used in the film. However, due to scheduling conflicts with the film’s production, it was never installed on the vehicle used in the shoot. Subsequently, this special swingarm found its way to the VRSCB we are introducing here.

Another “RED RAIN” segment that didn’t make it onto the screen

A rear swingarm born for the movies but never seen on screen. Today, it serves as the central component shaping this bike’s rear section. The swingarm, extending far back, powerfully supports the wide rear wheel while defining the bike’s overall low and long silhouette.By combining a black-based body with details that retain machined edges and the raw texture of metal, a sense of tension reminiscent of precision machinery has been created amidst the vehicle’s substantial presence. This is not a replica of the vehicle that appeared in the movie. It is a machine born from the same time, the same location, the same passion, and the same creative vision as the film’s vehicle—one that has inherited crucial components created during that production process. Understanding this background reveals that this swingarm is not merely a custom part, but an entity that carries the spirit of that original project into the present.

Precise Proportions That Create a "Low & Long" Look

From the side view, the first thing that catches the eye is the low line running from front to rear. The headlights and front end are positioned as low as possible, and the silhouette flowing from the fuel tank to the seat and rear fender is kept as horizontal as possible. By placing a wide rear tire and a long swingarm at the rear, the bike achieves a longer, lower stance while retaining the V-ROD’s signature massiveness. However, this isn’t merely about making the bike look low.The presence of the front and rear wheels, the structural design of the front end, the compact seat, and the upward-sweeping rear fender—it is precisely because the height and angles of each element have been meticulously adjusted that these bold proportions come together seamlessly without appearing disjointed.

A metallic outline floating against the black background

While the overall body is designed with black as the base color, it is not entirely covered in a uniform black. The bolts surrounding the wheel rims, the brake rotors, accents around the engine, the footpegs and grips, and the metal details incorporated into the swingarm—the flashes of silver that appear throughout tighten the contours of the black body and highlight its mechanical structure.Viewed from the front, the wide tires and distinctive front end create a striking appearance. From the rear, the massive tires, compact fender, belt drive, and long swingarm create layers of depth. The design element that takes center stage changes with every shift in perspective. Yet, no matter the angle, the bike maintains an unwavering sense of unity as a single machine.

Even among models with similar specifications, this one stands out

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph several V-RODs built in a similar style. Each one is well-crafted and has its own unique appeal. However, when I looked at this bike again through the camera’s viewfinder, I felt that something was different. While each component—on its own—should be bold, none of them stands out too much within the overall design. The wide tires, the long swingarm, and the low front end—everything points in the same direction, converging into a single, cohesive silhouette. It is this exquisite harmony that lends this bike its unique sense of calm and awe. Rather than making a flashy statement, it simply changes the atmosphere around it by its very presence. This VRSCB certainly exudes something that can only be described as an “aura.”

V-ROD: A Tribute to an Era and the Workshop Where It Was Built

This bike was born alongside the creation of a custom bike for a movie, and it carries forward ideas that weren’t realized during that process. This VRSCB bears the marks of time that cannot be fully understood simply by looking at its finished form. The swingarm was conceived, designed, and machined specifically for the film. That part went on to showcase its true presence on a different bike, eventually becoming the defining element that sealed the bike’s overall perfection. Its distinct “low and long” style, the uncompromising attention to detail, and the production background that ties it to *HiGH & LOW THE RED RAIN*—the interplay of these elements elevates this machine beyond a mere V-ROD custom, making it a one-of-a-kind bike with a unique story of its own.
