BL Silver Coat Burning, officially released in April 2025, is a revolutionary silver chrome coating system based on a new concept of using a special complex silver solution.
Can be applied using only general painting equipment
The conventional BL Silver Coat system required forced drying in a large all-encompassing dryer, but the new BL Silver Coat Burning system eliminates this requirement. With the new BL Silver Coat Burning system, the metallic look that can be called an alternative to chrome plating can be achieved with ordinary painting equipment: compressors, spray guns, infrared heaters, and commercially available burners.
Only 3 painting processes
BL Silver Coat Burning can be completed in only three processes. Especially for the silver primer, there is no longer a need for forced drying, so the work time is greatly reduced and the entire process can be completed in about 2 hours.
[Painting process of BL Silver Coat Burning ] ◯ Coating of special primer ◯ Coating and baking of silver primer ◯ Coating of special top clear
Step 1 : Coating with special primer
When aiming for a chrome-plated or metallic finish with a mirror image, the surface preparation of the base material to be applied is an important point.
Use putty or surfacer to create a flat, mirror-like finish on the work surface as much as possible.
The special primer can be polished and mirrored by using ordinary paint compound or other methods as a countermeasure against garbage.
The condition of the primer surface will be directly reflected in the final coating after the special top clear is applied, so please be careful not to leave any scratches or polishing marks.
[ Dilution ratio of special primer ] Primer : Hardener = 4 : 1 / Dedicated thinner 60-80% of primer
Primer coat (spraying): 2 to 3 coats, followed by a middle coat. After that, apply the middle coat.
Final Finish : The surface to be applied should have a glossy mirror finish that reflects the surrounding conditions.
Complete drying : Forced drying with an infrared heater is recommended.
Forced drying in a dryer: 80°C/30 min.
Step 2 : Coating with silver base and baking with a burner
See below for spray gun settings for silver main coating.
Thin coating is recommended for the silver main coating. When painting, be sure to use only one round trip per pattern.
Immediately after the silver primer is applied, the surface is seared with a burner (medium flame).
The flame of the burner should only lightly touch the painted surface.
The silver base coat can be applied over and over. Please check the silver coloration and proceed with the work in several coats.
Silver paint : Please refer to the video below.
[Silver dilution ratio ] Base coat : Dedicated thinner = 1 : 2
[Spray gun field setting when painting silver base resin]
Pattern : Fully open
Discharge : 0 to half turn open.
Air pressure : 0.15~0.2MPa
Distance between the gun and the surface to be applied: about 15 cm.
Recommended spray gun nozzle diameter : 1.3 to 1.5mm
Step 3 : Coating of special top clear
Although the silver primer adheres well to the primer by baking, a special topcoat must be applied to achieve a tougher coating film and to prevent the silver color from changing due to ultraviolet rays.
The special top clear adheres well to silver painted surfaces.
After the baking of the silver main compound is completed, remove the rough heat from the construction substrate and bring it to room temperature.
As soon as the substrate returns to room temperature, the dedicated top clear can be applied immediately.
[ Dilution ratio of exclusive top clear ] Base : Hardener = 8 : 1 / 60-80% of Base Thinner
We recommend that a very thin layer of special top clear be applied.
Thick coating of the exclusive top clear may cause the silver color and texture to recede.
Exclusive top clear can be dried at room temperature.
After applying a thin coat of special top clear, we recommend applying another company's urethane clear or glass coat with excellent transparency to further improve the texture.
